Calvary

We live in an increasingly secular world. And France has a strong separation of church and state. And yet the French landscape — at least in my part of the Grand Ouest — is littered with Catholic iconography. This photography project centres around how these artefacts exist alongside, and sometimes in competition with, the mundane artefacts of life, such as street furniture and trees. It looks at the place of these superstitious objects in the rural and urban landscape.
